I like the Nick and Nora, both for the name and for the taste. As for the name, it’s named for the Thin Man movies. If you’ve ever seen the films, the dude is a martini fiend. Check out a martini montage here:
If you haven’t seen them, you should. They’re a bit quaint by today’s standards, but the dialog is good. And I like it that the guy is always drinking, too. That’s my kind of detective.
Here are the proportions:
- 1 1/2 oz gin
- 1/2 oz dry vermouth
- olive
As for the taste, far superior to the dryer versions of today’s martinis. This one is far tastier, in my opinion. It doesn’t just taste like gin, and the extra vermouth complements the gin perfectly. If it isn’t dirty, this is the martini I will go for.
So that’s it for my martini selections. If anyone has anymore martini suggestions, give me a comments, and I will see if I can write a stayathomecocktails review.
