- Texas Tiki Week. Dallas recently hosted a Texas Tiki Week, including a few tiki dinners, a tiki cocktail crawl, and some tiki brunches. And all of the dumpsters are overflowing with little umbrellas and miniature leis, I bet! That’s okay: tiki is worth it!
- Absolut Texas is here. Absolut has released its Absolut Texas that mixes serrano chiles and cucumber to form something pretty unique. Makes a great cocktail, I hear. Wait to find a future post on the stuff right here!
- Fit Foodie Cocktail Dinner. Sounds like a great event for all of you fit foodies in Austin, TX. The dinner isn’t until September, but register now to make sure you get a spot.
- Houston videos. The Houston Press starts a video series about how Houston eats and drinks. Starting with a Stay at Home Cocktails favorite, Anvil Bar and Refuge.
- Longhorn fans cry into their…Coke? The University of Texas has announced that it won’t be selling beer this year. Alas.
- Halcyon’s new cocktail menu. San Antonio’s Halcyon Coffee, Bar, Lounge released its new menu with some fantastic-sounding drinks. Road trip!
- Musical betrayal and cheap beer. A review of Houston’s dive bar Alice’s Tall Texan is really just an excuse to talk about jukebox heroes and jukebox etiquette. Hear! Hear!
- A beer and coffee bar. Radio Coffee and Beer opens in south Austin. With 24 beers on tap, sounds like a destination place to me!
- “Cold beer and titties.” That was the slogan someone used as a campaign speech at the Texas Boys State conference.
- Houston Height’s new Asian restaurant. Lillo and Ella, a new pan-Asian Heights restaurant has a great bar program, too!
- Places to go in Dallas. If you’re looking for recommendations for a night out in Dallas, look no further than Marc Ramirez of Dallas News. He has six new places that should be on your cocktail radar.
- A South African restaurant in downtown Houston. Springbok is Main Street’s newest restaurant, opening July 21. Can’t wait to try a Curry-infused Caiperenia!
- Bag cocktails. I don’t know anything about them, but they make cocktails in a bag and they’re based in Galveston, Texas. Sounds good to me! Lieutenant Blender’s Cocktails in a Bag.
- Non Texas Bonus. Texas Public Radio’s segment on a beer brewed from a whale fossil!
